Baysun Co Ltd announced that it has developed a lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable battery module equipped with a battery monitoring system (BMS) capable of showing remaining battery level and preventing overcharge.
Baysun will release the module, "Arca MD1400," at the end of March 2012. Its capacity and voltage are 1.4kWh and 24V, respectively. The module contains seven 200Wh (56Ah) cells connected in series and is cooled by natural air convection.
According to EnergyTrend, a research division under TrendForce, it is believed that fuel cell development has a great potential in the energy storage and generating system areas within ten years. Combining lithium battery with natural gas is practically feasible in the transportation and household applications. As a result, carbon emission reduction can achieved bringing a green image to all fuel cell battery applications.
Battery Japan formally opened on March 2, 2011, attracting many storage energy manufacturers in the fields of lithium battery, fuel cell, intelligent building and smart grid (Chart 1). Many top professionals from these manufacturers are invited to release their reports in the seminar, and nearly 2,000 booths join in this exhibition, with the flow of over 10,000 visitors on the first day. All these factors will make this exhibition become the main observation index of battery application in the next five years.
According to the observation from EnergyTrend, one of research divisions under TrendForce, Formosa Energy & Material Technology Co.,Ltd. ( FEMTC ) has first released the long-term developing Lithium Ferrous Phosphate Oxide (LFPO) and LiFePO4 cells. The independent patent of LFPO, as well as the excellent performance of 20% capacity higher than ordinary batteries, has become the focus of market attention. TrendForce has also visited Battery Japan and made detailed analysis on unique product features.
