SunPower and Apple’s collaboration for developing 40MW of PV projects in China is one of the PV headlines in this week. The partnership marks the two companies’ first JV for entering into China, the world’s largest PV market. Is it a sign of the actual return of the Chinese market? We shall wait and see.

According to EnergyTrend’s research, the PV market has not revived yet so far. Nonetheless, it is expected to see better performance in the Chinese market after SNEC, which will be held from April 28th to 30th, so the quotes of PV products could stop declining in the near future. Water scarcity in Taiwan can be a challenge for Taiwanese PV cell manufacturers because the production costs might increase 3~5%.

Besides, several megawatt-scale PV project agreements were signed or revealed during this week. The market demand in the second quarter of 2015 seems to be stronger than the first quarter, which is good news to the PV industry. The Green Energy Expo 2015 in Daegu, South Korea is the debut of global PV ceremonies during this quarter; the show gave the world a glance over the South Korean market and the local makers’ future strategies.
