Motech Plans to Establish a New PV Cell Manufacturing Facility in China

Motech, one of the leaders of Taiwan PV industry, unveiled to invest RMB 211.1 million in establishing a new company in Xuzhou, Jiangsu. The new facility is for expanding the company’s PV cell production capacity and for sale business in China.

EnergyTrend learned that Motech’s new China facility could be named “Motech New Energy (Xuzhou),” and it will be Motech’s second manufacturing plant in China as the company has established an older facility in Kunshan.

As EenrgyTrend forecasts, the solar PV market in China will be as strong as it is now – or stronger than the current. Policy such as the Pilot Program will drive the markets’ demand to high efficiency and well performance PV products. If Motech’s new facility were for producing high efficiency PV cells, the company would be able to supply PV products with better cost-performance ratio so that the company could increase its presence and position in the large market.

“We are still preparing for the Xuzhou facility,” a representative told EnergyTrend in a call. “So, details such as schedule for commencing operation are unavailable at this moment.”

Motech has been recognized as a leader in efficiencies of mono-si PV cells. The latest plan to establish the Xuzhou plant represents the company’s confidence in the Chinese market. PV module’s production capacity of China’s first-tier manufacturers is mostly smaller that PV cell’s capacity, and orders for PV cells are still strong in China. The fact leaves rooms for PV cell makers like Motech to further develop.
