Clean lighting company Nokero sold 275,000 units of its portable solar light bulbs to Indonesia, pushing the company’s total sales to more than 1 million. At the same time, an African government is negotiating for 400,000 of its solar-powered lights.
The low-cost and lightweight solar light can keep a charge up to 15 hours at a time. The light’s high durability will make it a necessity for hikers and campers and all their late-night lighting needs. What makes this product even more unique is its ability to adapt to its surroundings. Users can prop the light on a stand, clip it on a backpack, or hold it as a flashlight.

Steve Katsaros, founder of Nokero, has expanded his company's unique array of solar-powered bulbs to include brighter, longer-lasting lights that can also charge mobile phones.
The scrappy startup scene is over for Nokero, said Katsaros, who three years ago unveiled the world's first solar light bulb aimed at eradicating expensive, dangerous and polluting dependence on kerosene. "I'm tired of this being small," said Katsaros, whose $5 solar-powered bulb promises light to the 1.3 billion people without access to electricity. "I want impact. I want outcomes that aren't going to get done by an inventor working as CEO."
"If we can get the market pulling for this product, ... we can change lives," Katsaros said. "The future is bright."
