Global PV demand is becoming stronger in recent two weeks, leading spot prices along PV supply chain to rebound. Adding that the polysilicon inventory in China started to decline, EnergyTrend hence projects a price raise in July.
China, USA and UK – the new leader in Europe—are the most vigorous markets, while India is on its way to installing 100GW of solar capacity by 2022 through ambitious policies and promising market vision. Global PV manufacturers are planning, or have planned to establish manufacturing plants in India, and some choose to develop solar PV projects and solar parks. India is officially a target of PV industry’s global deployment.
Technically, thin film solar cells/modules reached great milestones. First Solar has successfully increased its CdTe solar module’s conversion efficiency up to 18.6%, and Solar Frontier’s CIS thin film cells now converses sunlight into power with a 10% efficiency. These progresses represent momentum of the solar industry as well as a window to future’s global energy map.
