With the introduction of hybrid cars, the market pays more attention to the uncertainties that are brought by infrastructure constructions rather than the advantages of energy saving and efficiency. Since 2000, Toyota has received a considerably high reputation from Prius. However, as the subsidy started to decrease gradually since 2008, the market demand for energy-saving vehicles were pulled down. In order to ensure its presence at the energy-saving development area, Toyota has officially announced the plan of releasing its fifth generation hybrid car in September, 2011. The most significant feature of this model is the application of NMC lithium battery hat enables the car to run up to 23km under the fully electric mode which meets the requirement of the majority for daily commuting.

Passenger cars
According to current plans, most of hybrid cars will be released in the market between 2010 and 2012. Hybrid cars can be classified into passenger cars and commercial cars. At present, the majority of passenger cars is produced by first tier manufacturers, and the battery capacity is controlled at 20kWh, while commuters are the major users. On the other hand, commercial cars have a wide range of types, and the battery capacity could vary from 10kWh to 100kWh, and mainly based on construction project bidding. The infrastructure of hybrid cars is still under planning, therefore, at the early stage, commercial cars will be the major product that has been focused in the market, whereas passenger cars are used to attract attentions in the exhibits.
