Duke Energy Renewables acquired the 25MW Caprock Solar Power Project near Tucumcari in Quay County, New Mexico from Infigen Energy and is going to build it in this year. The electricity generated from the facility will be sold to Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) under a 25-year agreement.

Swinerton Renewable Energy will take over the EPC services and construct the project. JinkoSolar will supply over 103,000 solar panels for the project. The project is expected to be completed in late 2016 and its power generation will be enough for approximately 5,000 average homes.
Duke Energy now owns and operates more than 2,600MW of wind and solar energy generating facilities. The company has invested more than US$4 billion in renewable energy and plans to invest another US$3 billion over the next five years.
