Spain-based renewable energy company Gamesa announced two achievements in its energy business. The company has successfully completed 58MW of solar power projects in India, and has already won a total of 80MW of wind turbine orders in Jordan.
Solar in India: promising
Gamesa launched its solar business in India since 2015, when the company started trying to exploring opportunities of solar in the country. During the first quarter of 2016, Gamesa completed construction and commissioned 58MW of solar projects located in the states of Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Gamesea provided EPC and design services for all the projects on basis of its rich EPC experience. In addition, supply of inverters, erection and commissioning of the orders were all conducted by Gamesea.
It is estimated that India’s solar potential could reach 750GW, while the government aims to install 100GW of solar by 2022. The total installation in India is still less than 10GW by now.
Wind business: another milestone in the Middle East region
Elecnor has built a wind project in Ma’an in Jordan for the Jordan Ministry of Energy (MEMR). The wind farm install 33 Gamesa’s G97-2.0 MW wind turbines, totaling 66MW, and the project was commissioned in April, 2016.
Elecnor plans to extend the original facility by installing another seven G97-2.0MW wind turbines supplied by Gamesea, and the two companies has already inked supply agreement for the second phase of the project. The turbine delivery will be conducted in 2016 and the commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of 2017.
The wind turbine supply marks Gamesea’s second wind farm developed in Jordan as well as the company’s commitment to the Middle East region. In the region, Gamesea has installed or supplied over 800MW of wind turbines.
