University of California, Berkeley’s Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation in the College of Engineering has a new home, Jacobs Hall. To exemplify the Institute’s value, Sungevity helped install Sunpreme Bifacial PV panels for the building so that the Institute can control its electricity bills and operate itself in a more environmental-friendly way.
The bifacial solar system is mounted on the Institute’s rooftop and is the largest solar array on the University of California, Berkeley campus. Bifacial PV panels absorb sunlight from both sides and energy yield will be higher than traditional PV panels. Sungevity utilized frameless bifacial PV panels consisted by cells with conversion efficiency of 21.5%, making the rooftop solar system both high-efficient and aesthetical.

The rooftop solar array was commissioned earlier in 2016. In addition, the building is on track to receive one of the highest levels of LEED Certification for green building.
