A new solar power plant have been completed in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. An enterprise established jointly by Kyocera and its partners announced the completion of the 14.5MW solar power plant, which began operation on November 2.
Kyocera, Mitsubishi Research Institute, Tokyo Century and Yonden Engineering Company jointly formed a new company “Takacho Yasudago Mega Solar Hatsuden LLC” in October 2014 for the site after the affiliates started planning the Hyogo project in May 2013. The joint venture commenced construction after obtaining approval for land development in March 2015.
The 14.5MW Hyogo project utilizes 56,000 solar modules made by Kyocera and is estimated to generate approximately 16,060MWh of clean electricity per year — enough electricity to power approximately 4,930 typical households. The project started operation on November 2, and the companies held a completion ceremony for it on November 29.
Takacho Yasudago Mega Solar Hatsuden will be responsible for operating the site. Tokyo Century arranged financing, and design and construction was undertaken by Yonden Engineering. The Kyocera Group supplied solar modules as well as peripheral equipment for the installation, and will also carry out maintenance. Mitsubishi Research Institute, which headed the project and provided consultation, will also undertake administration (asset management) of Takacho Yasudago Mega Solar Hatsuden.
