Increasing investments in the development of the renewable energy sector has become an irreversible trend as global warming causes more extreme weather events around the world. The latest study by EnergyTrend, the green energy division of the global research firm TrendForce, states that Taiwan’s solar market surpassed the GW scale in 2018 with annual installations rising above 1GW for the first time. The rapid growth has also attracted an influx of foreign investments, and the government, in turn, has further raised its annual installation target for 2019 to 1.5GW.
