Saft, the designer and manufacturer of high-tech industrial batteries, is presenting a seminar paper at this year’s OSP EXPO that outlines the key practical advantages offered by specialized Li-ion telecom battery technology, with specific reference to saving weight and reducing the installation footprint in DPCO (Distributed Power for Central Office) and roof-mounted BTS (Bases Transceiver Station) applications.
Visitors to Booth 1227 will also be able to see Saft’s full portfolio of advanced telecom battery technologies developed to provide the ideal combination of performance, reliability, safety, low/zero-maintenance and long life in the challenging uncontrolled environment usually found in outside plant (OSP) cabinets. The seminar paper ‘Evolving Li-ion technology reduces the battery weight burden for telecom operators’ will be presented by Antoine Brenier, Saft’s director of sales, telecom, at 9.15 am on Tuesday September 13.
The paper starts by explaining how rechargeable Li-ion battery technology has already demonstrated its exceptional capability to deliver high performance, reliability and long life in a range of demanding telecom applications. It then outlines how a second generation of Liion batteries has evolved in the form of Saft’s Evolion concept that capitalizes on this experience by offering tailor made solutions to meet the specific demands of the telecom industry, where it offers exciting possibilities to create compact, safe and reliable backup power systems for both DPCO and roof-mounted BTS applications. The key practical benefits that this new generation of Li-ion telecom batteries offers in reallife applications include:
