Guangdong-based IT parts and automobile maker BYD Company Limited (1211.HK) plans to construct a 5GW solar cell project in Shaanxi province between 2009 and 2015 with total investment of RMB 22.5 billion, according to a document released by the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission on January 19.
Reports in December 2008 said that BYD had begun construction of a solar cell project with a total investment of RMB 2.5 billion in Shangluo, Shanxi province on December 10, 2008.
