China Guodian Corporation’s local subsidiary in Anhui Province announced that it has signed a framework agreement with a local mining company to develop a 60MW centralized PV project. Directly controlled by the Chinese government, Guodian is one of the major electricity generators in the country. The inking of the deal was announced on October 27.
The project will be located at a mining site within Ma’anshan, a prefecture-level city in the province. According to the statement from Guodian about the project, the location has plenty of sunshine throughout the year and is thus highly suitable for the deployment of PV systems. Taking up an area of around 1,300 mu, the project will feature PV modules that contain large-sized mono-Si cells and offer a peak output of 550W. Guodian also said the electricity generated by the project will be mainly consumed by the local mining community. Any surplus electricity will be fed into the grid. Even though the power for self-consumption will be larger proportionally to the power for the grid, the project is expected to create substantial and high-value development opportunities.
Guodian in its statement said that it is committing all of its efforts in supporting the policies of the Chinese government for capping CO2 emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. Going forward, Guodian will fully carry out its plans to develop and utilize clean and renewable energies such as solar PV in Anhui. It will also continuously promote new energy technologies as a way to contribute to the realization of the country’s “Dual Carbon Targets”. Guodian added that the successful arrangement of the framework agreement for this centralized PV project has laid a solid foundation for it to meet the sustainable development goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan.
