Hon Hai Technology Group Chairman Young Liu recently participated in the program "Foreseeing the Big Future - Smart Technology Series" and discussed the development trend of Taiwan's electric vehicle industry chain with former Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung. In response to the development of electric vehicles in Taiwan, Young Liu revealed on the program that, by 2024, the domestic production rate of Taiwan's industries in the three key electrical system of batteries, motors, and electronic controls, will reach 90%.
Led on a guided tour by Young Liu, Lin Chia-lung first visited Foxtron's car manufacturing base located in New Taipei City, which is rarely open to the public. He also tried out the high-tech cockpit of the Model E and sat in the futuristic Model T electric bus.
Talking about the development of electric vehicles in Taiwan, Young Liu pointed out that Taiwanese manufacturers must seize opportunities in software and semiconductor projects rather than compete in projects that cater to the know-how of traditional automakers.
Young Liu also revealed that the industry in Taiwan is currently active in the development of the three key electric vehicle system. Young Liu expects that by 2024, the domestic production rate of the industry in Taiwan will reach 90%, including batteries, motors, and electronic control systems.
At the same time, Young Liu discussed the challenges of the MIH alliance on camera. Young Liu indicated that their biggest challenge is from traditional industry. In the beginning, it was hard to convince traditional operators to believe in Hon Hai because traditional operators are used to traditional practices and the feedback that Hon Hai received initially was "don't believe it," "you don't understand," etc.
Another challenge comes from potential ICT partners. Young Liu explained that because they also believe that the breakthrough approach of the MIH platform will succeed in the future, they feel Hon Hai has the ability to lead all members to success. As for technology, market, and other aspects, difficulty is relatively low.
