Lessons from Natural Disasters
In the wake of the disastrous outcome from the earthquake, northeast Japan’s infrastructure was severely periled, not to mention the long-term nuclear pollution that followed. Aside from the reconstruction, Japan began to accelerate the development of nuclear power replacement.
According to EnergyTrend, after the nuclear leak, the Japanese government announced that the installed capacity of solar energy is set to increase from 3.68GW to 28GW by 2020. Additionally, the government aims to enhance Japan’s energy independence and raise the awareness of green footprints.
Increasing Focus on Energy Storage System
In addition to energy generation and energy saving, the countries have been focusing more on energy storage system and coming up with related subsidy policy. According to EnergyTrend, the energy storage systems will first be adopted in local emergency assistance systems, such as large standby power system. The systems are expected to make their way into households, which will help reduce the energy consumption during peak hours and in turn lower the need for nuclear energy. EnergyTrend expects the demand for energy storage systems to surge considerably in 2012.
