Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Ltd sold one of the Japan's largest electricity storage systems that use lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable batteries and are designed for installation inside buildings.
It has already been delivered to a technology research center of Shimizu Corp and will be used for a microgrid, which controls electric power in a certain area. Its output power and capacity are 100kW and 60kWh, respectively. The two companies plan to cooperate in the field test of the new storage system.
The electricity storage system is equipped with 320 battery cells, each of which has a capacity of 50Ah or larger, as well as battery racks, bidirectional converters and a control unit for the system. In the field test, the two companies plan to collect data so that the system can be used for the sake of environment and economy.
