German auto manufacturer Opel officially announced to be returning to the Taiwan market, and will be bringing back its auto craftsmanship and latest technology. The German brand will release four new models for the first wave that will enliven Taiwan’s auto market.
Opel, another classic auto manufacturer, is returning to the Taiwanese market, after its exit in 2012, subsequent to MG’s return. Opel will be bringing even more innovative and low-carbon technology this time, and continue to cultivate in the Taiwanese market.
“Opel is the only Germany brand under Stellantis, and all Open models are designed in Rüsselsheim in order to retain Opel’s core brand value and driving experience”, as commented by William Mott, Opel’s Director of International Operations, who said that the company looks forward to working with Taiwan’s general agent Master Win by integrating remarkable manufacturing craftsmanship, as well as innovation in zero carbon emission and green energy through electrification, in order to attain excellent sales performance in Taiwan. Opel’s headquarters will continue provide comprehensive and continuous support for the Taiwanese market.
Opel will carry on with its strategy of full electrification by 2028. The four models that will come to Taiwan this time include the BEV Mokka-e, as well as the popular fossil-fuel models of Mokka and Grandland that are scheduled for incorporation in the fourth quarter of 2022. The best-selling model Astra may have to wait until 2023 before it debuts in Taiwan.

Judging by the aforementioned product lines, Opel seems to be relatively conservative towards the popularization of EVs in Taiwan, though there are actually multiple energy variations for Astra, Mokka, and Grandland, it’s just that Mokka-e is the only NEV that is coming to Taiwan this time.
Mokka-e is positioned as a small SUV, and is the sister car of Peugeot e-2008, with merely 4.1m in length, as well as a wheelbase of 2,557mm. Mokka-e is configured with an electric motor that is capable of 136hp, as well as a battery unit of 50kWh, and is capable of approximately 320km in WLTP.

Service locations are among the first priorities for consumers when a brand makes its return. Opel Taiwan is expected to establish comprehensive service and display centers in the six major cities starting from the first quarter of 2023, and there will be more than 15 sales and service locations in the entire Taiwan before the end of 2025 in order to fulfill the demand.
Opel Taiwan will also host the 2022 Opel MOKKA Preview Tour in November, where the two new models Mokka and Mokka-e would be displayed.
