The Al Dhafra PV Power Station, one of the world’s largest single-unit PV projects, reached its maximum grid-connected generation in April this year. Trina Solar played a critical role in the development of this project by supplying 800 megawatts of its high-efficiency PV modules under the Vertex series. These modules contain N-type 210-millimeter cells. Commenting on the project, Trina said it will continue to facilitate the efforts to adopt green energy and sustainable development practices across the Middle East. Located about 35 kilometers south of Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the UAE, the Al Dhafra PV Power Station has a total installed capacity of 2.1GW and spans an area of more than 20 square kilometers. This is equivalent to 2,800 standard football fields. Trina also noted that the project is an important example of the realization of the Belt and Road Initiative in the region. It is also a symbol of strong friendship between China and the UAE. The project was connected to the grid in November 2022 and finally achieved full-scale generation in early April of this year. The power supplied from the project is expected to meet the needs of around 160,000 households in the UAE. In terms of emission reduction, the project can offset as much as 2.4 million tons of CO2 per year.
