According to the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), 1,071.3 MW of new PV capacity was installed successfully in February, indicating a significant increase when compared to the figures from February 2023 (746 MW) and January 2024 (1.42 GW).
Remarkably, the first two months of 2024 witnessed a total installation of 2.43 GW of new PV capacity, a substantial rise from the 1.62 MW recorded in the same period of the previous year. This pushed the country's cumulative installed PV power to 84.88 GW by the end of February.
The shift in market segments is noteworthy as well. February saw a decrease in rooftop PV systems under the country's feed-in tariff scheme, with an installation of 447.1 MW, almost half of the previous month's level. In contrast, rooftop projects stood at 29.5 MW, while ground-mounted projects achieved 383.1 MW, consequently constituting around 40% of the total PV capacity deployed for the month.
Furthermore, ground-mounted projects operating under the country's auction scheme reached a combined capacity of 169 MW in February.
Germany reported a surge in new photovoltaic (PV) deployments, reaching 1.07 GW in February. The German authorities highlighted that approximately 40% of this capacity came from unsubsidized PV systems. As a result, the country's cumulative PV capacity had risen to 84.88 GW by the end of the month.
