On July 23, the groundbreaking ceremony for the electrode sheet project of Qinghai Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. was held in the Nanchuan Industrial Park. This marks another milestone in the deepening strategic cooperation between Xining City and CATL following the successful launch of the 15GWh power and energy storage battery project last year. It is also a key step in Qinghai's efforts to build a “100-billion-yuan lithium battery industry base.”
This 500 million yuan electrode sheet project targets a "critical link" in the lithium battery supply chain. Once completed, it will completely eliminate the current reliance on external processing for Qinghai CATL's electrode sheets, addressing a major bottleneck in local production. It will significantly enhance production stability and cost competitiveness. The project includes the construction of a new electrode sheet plant equipped with advanced mixing and coating equipment, and will create 500 high-quality jobs. More importantly, it marks Xining's transition from “single-point breakthroughs” to a new stage of “full-chain coordination” in its lithium battery industry.
The project further transforms Qinghai's clean energy advantages and Xining's strategic location into competitive strengths in the global lithium battery market. It will strongly boost the momentum of Qinghai's new energy industry, reinforce Xining's important position in the national lithium battery landscape, and inject new vitality into high-quality regional economic development.
