On August 2, Guizhou Zhaoke Energy Co., Ltd. (“Guizhou Zhaoke Energy”) officially began construction on its lithium battery production base project. The project focuses on large cylindrical lithium batteries known for their high safety and performance, primarily targeting applications in two-wheelers and energy storage systems.
With a total investment of RMB 250 million, the project is located in the Qiandongnan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Guizhou Province, covering an area of 30,000 square meters. It includes an R&D center, intelligent lithium battery production lines, and smart manufacturing workshops. The project is progressing steadily as planned and is expected to be completed and put into operation by December 2025.
Upon full operation, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 2GWh of new energy power batteries, with an estimated annual output value of approximately RMB 650 million. The project is also expected to generate regional spillover benefits and deeply integrate with Guizhou’s new energy industry, further accelerating its development.
Industry analysts note that since Tesla introduced its 4680 large cylindrical battery concept, major battery manufacturers worldwide have been actively following suit. After years of technical advancement, both domestic and international enterprises have built solid technical foundations and are gradually moving toward commercialization of large cylindrical batteries.
According to company data platform Aiqicha, Guizhou Zhaoke Energy wholly owns its subsidiary Hunan Zhaoke Power New Energy Co., Ltd. (“Hunan Zhaoke”).
Founded in 2019, Hunan Zhaoke is headquartered in Huayuan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. It is a new energy manufacturing company specializing in the R&D, production, and sales of lithium batteries. Its product portfolio includes batteries for telecom tower base stations, solar-powered streetlights, and electric two-wheelers.
In August 2020, Hunan Zhaoke launched a lithium battery project in the Huayuan County Industrial Zone. The first phase involved an investment of RMB 150 million and introduced fully automated production lines from both domestic and international sources, with a daily output of 250,000 18650 cells and 200,000 polymer cells, achieving an annual output value of over RMB 350 million.
Notably, Hunan Zhaoke has also launched a 4680 large cylindrical lithium battery project and claims to have made significant breakthroughs in both technical development and manufacturing processes.
