On August 31, Hainan Drinda New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (002865) released its investor relations activity record. The company stated that as a specialized solar cell manufacturer, it has been deeply engaged in photovoltaic core technologies. Since pioneering large-scale mass production of N-type cells in 2022, Drinda has continued to optimize and upgrade N-type cell processes. Through measures such as reducing metal composites, improving passivation performance, enhancing optical properties, and adopting finer grid lines, the company has consistently improved conversion efficiency while lowering non-silicon costs.
In the first half of 2025, Drinda achieved an average mass-production conversion efficiency increase of over 0.2%, while reducing per-watt non-silicon costs by around 20%. The company’s actual in-warehouse efficiency is now among the industry’s top tier, meeting the requirements of modules rated at 635W and above. With reserved technologies ready for deployment, Drinda is also working to further improve conversion efficiency and performance to support modules rated at over 650W.
In terms of TBC (Tunnel Barrier Contact) cells, Drinda reported that pilot-scale TBC cell efficiency is 1–1.5 percentage points higher than mainstream N-type cells, and preparations for mass production are actively advancing.
For perovskite tandem cells, the company, in collaboration with external partners, has achieved a laboratory conversion efficiency of 32.08%, ranking among the industry leaders.
Looking ahead, Drinda plans to further increase R&D investment, build a leading research organization and system, and continue upgrading N-type cell processes while expanding technology reserves. By developing and optimizing new processes, the company aims to meet market demand for high-efficiency cells and deliver high cost-performance products that enhance power generation and returns for end users.
According to Drinda’s 2025 semi-annual report, the company was the first in the industry to achieve large-scale mass production of N-type cells at the end of 2022 and has since completed a full round of N-type technology upgrades and iterations. Drinda currently operates two major N-type cell production bases in Chuzhou and Huai’an, with a combined capacity of over 40GW, ranking among the industry leaders.
The company also announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with a local module customer in Turkey to jointly develop high-efficiency cell projects. Leveraging its technological advantages, Drinda aims to meet the strong demand for high-performance, high-reliability solar cells in Turkey and other global markets, helping to fill the region’s structural gap in cell capacity. Regarding its previously planned 5GW high-efficiency cell project in Oman, Drinda will carefully assess returns and risks in light of international trade dynamics, tariff policies, and domestic and overseas market conditions, and will advance the project prudently.
Going forward, Drinda will continue to explore diversified approaches such as technology partnerships, capacity building, and investment cooperation to expand its overseas high-efficiency cell capacity. By further integrating into local industry chains abroad, the company seeks to meet the rapidly growing demand of the global solar market.
