The global energy storage market has seen a sustained surge in order activity recently, with multiple domestic energy storage companies securing consecutive GWh-scale overseas orders. Three companies—Risen Energy, CATL, and Sungrow—have collectively secured orders exceeding 7.4 GWh, with their business scope covering the energy storage markets in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
Risen Energy Secures Another 3GWh Global Energy Storage Deal
Recently, Risen Energy announced the formal signing of a strategic cooperation agreement on energy storage systems with WEG, a Brazilian industrial giant, with a total cooperation capacity of 3GWh. Under the agreement, Risen Energy will provide large-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) energy storage system solutions to WEG from 2026 to 2028.
Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Santa Catarina, Brazil, WEG is one of the largest electrical equipment manufacturers in Latin America. Notably, Risen Energy's energy storage battery systems are the first domestic products to obtain both China's national certification and the US UL9540A safety certification, with its safety performance and technical strength recognized by the international market.
Through this cooperation, Risen Energy will supply energy storage systems for WEG's projects in multiple regions including South America, North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia. Previously, the two parties had established a long-term and in-depth partnership in the photovoltaic sector, and this energy storage collaboration represents a further extension of their synergy in the new energy field.
CATL Wins 4GWh Energy Storage Contract in Singapore
Recently, according to foreign media reports, CATL signed a framework supply agreement with Vena Energy, a Singapore-based renewable energy developer, with a cooperation scale of 4GWh.
Under the agreement, CATL will provide 4GWh of EnerX battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions to PT Infrastruktur Terbarukan Sedaya, a local subsidiary of Vena Energy. The BESS solution adopts CATL's 530Ah battery cells, with a single 20-foot container having a capacity of 5.6MWh.
Sungrow Commences Construction of Its First Grid-Forming Energy Storage System in Australia
On November 26, Sungrow, together with its delivery partners Elecnor (a Spanish energy engineering company) and Electranet (an Australian power grid operator), officially kicked off the construction of the Pelican Point Energy Storage System at the Pelican Point Power Station.
According to data, the project is a customized energy storage project by Sungrow for ENGIE and also marks its first grid-forming energy storage project implemented in South Australia.
With a scale of 200MW/400MWh, the Pelican Point Energy Storage Project is currently in the development and construction phase and is expected to be officially put into operation in the second half of 2027. The project will adopt Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system.
