Recent weeks have seen major progress across the energy storage and battery materials sector, spanning multiple technology routes including LFP, vanadium redox flow batteries, and solid-state batteries. Key milestones include Wanhua Chemical signing a 650,000-ton LFP project, Huanlian Juneng accelerating construction of its vanadium battery base, Dali Energy Storage’s electrolyte project entering production, and Hoosun Technology Group launching its solid-state battery platform—collectively signaling a significant acceleration in industrialization.
01 Wanhua Chemical Signs 650,000-Ton LFP Project
On December 4, at the Shandong Green, Low-Carbon, High-Quality Development Conference, Wanhua Chemical signed an investment agreement with the Laizhou municipal government for the “Wanhua Laizhou Green Power Industrial Park,” planning the construction of an LFP project with an annual capacity of 650,000 tons.
This agreement marks a key step in Wanhua Chemical’s expansion of its green and low-carbon industrial layout within Shandong Province. In addition to Laizhou, Wanhua Chemical also signed cooperation agreements with Dongying, Binzhou, and Weifang, making it the enterprise with the broadest regional deployment at the conference.
02 Huanlian Juneng’s 1GW/4GWh Energy Storage Project Makes New Progress
Recently, the 1GW/4GWh advanced energy storage battery and system integration smart manufacturing base of Huanlian Juneng Energy Group Co., Ltd. entered the final sprint for the fourth quarter.
The project has a total investment of approximately RMB 8.5 billion and will be built in three phases. Phase I—currently under construction—mainly includes a fully automated 1GW vanadium battery stack production line, a 1GW intelligent electrical equipment production line, supporting office facilities, and the establishment of an R&D center for electrochemical energy storage technologies, aiming to build a vanadium-battery storage system integration platform with a 4GWh production capacity.
Construction teams are now optimizing resource allocation to accelerate progress. Next steps include preparing for equipment installation and production line commissioning, with the goal of bringing the project online as early as possible.
03 Dali Energy Storage’s 2GWh Electrolyte Project Nears Production
The China Resources Dali Zaoyang Wind–Vanadium Flow Battery Industrial Park has also reported new progress. Following trial production and equipment commissioning, its core sub-project—the electrolyte production line—will officially begin operation on December 12.
The production process and core technologies used in this electrolyte line were independently developed by Dali Energy Storage, making it the first large-scale production line in China to apply this process. Once operational, the line will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 cubic meters.
Since trial production began in November 2024, the product has quickly gained market traction due to its high quality, securing an initial order worth RMB 230 million. To meet strong demand, the company accelerated deployment by merging the originally planned two-phase project, achieving a 1GWh capacity ahead of schedule. Currently, delivered and pending-delivery orders have reached a total value of RMB 500 million.
04 Hoosun Technology Group’s 0.5GWh Solid-State Battery Platform Begins Mass Production
On December 7, the 0.5GWh solid-state battery platform operated by Guizhou Chaoneng Era Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hoosun Technology Group Co., Ltd., officially launched mass production.
The newly launched “Jiu Xiao · Ling Yun” semi-solid-state battery series targets core applications such as high-end industrial drones, intelligent robots, and premium electric motorcycles, offering energy densities ranging from 270Wh/kg to 350Wh/kg. The series has already attracted more than ten customers, with business coverage across key regions including the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and Chengdu-Chongqing.
According to its development roadmap, Hoosun Technology Group plans to build a 10GWh semi-solid-state production line for energy storage and power batteries by 2026 and to establish a full solid-state battery production line adopting advanced dry-electrode processes by 2028.
