As the year draws to a close, the energy storage market is witnessing a surge in contract signings, with several leading companies recently securing major energy storage orders. CATL has won a 20GWh battery cell procurement contract from CRRC, Zhiguang Electric has signed a system order worth RMB 119 million, Trina Solar has secured a 48.88MWh project in Europe, and Risen Energy has added new commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage contracts totaling 300MWh.
CATL Wins a 20GWh Energy Storage Cell Order
On December 26, CRRC released a direct procurement announcement for its 2026 energy storage cell requirements. The purchasing entity is the Integrated Energy Business Division of CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co., Ltd., which will directly procure 20.06GWh of battery cells from CATL.
According to the announcement documents, the Integrated Energy Business Division of CRRC Zhuzhou Institute will procure CATL’s battery cells in two lots. Lot 1 consists of 8 million 314Ah energy-storage-specific cells (3.2V/314Ah), corresponding to a total capacity of 8.04GWh. Lot 2 comprises 6.4 million 587Ah lithium iron phosphate cells (3.2V/587Ah), with a total capacity of 12.02GWh.
Zhiguang Electric Signs RMB 119 Million Energy Storage System Order
On the evening of December 26, Zhiguang Electric released an announcement stating that its controlling subsidiary, Guangzhou Zhiguang Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., had recently achieved a significant market breakthrough.
It is reported that Zhiguang Energy Storage has signed a Sales Contract with Yangzhou New Concept Electric Co., Ltd., with a total contract value of RMB 119 million. Under the agreement, Zhiguang Energy Storage will provide the buyer with complete sets of equipment for high-voltage cascaded energy storage power station systems.
The company stated that the business covered by this contract falls within its core operations. If the contract is successfully executed, it is expected to have a positive impact on the company’s financial position and operating performance.
Trina Solar Secures a 48.88MWh Energy Storage Order in Europe
Recently, Trina Solar officially signed a battery energy storage system (BESS) contract with Sunly, a leading energy company in Estonia, for the Raba solar power project.
Under the agreement, Trina Storage, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, will supply a 21MW/42MWh energy storage system for the project, utilizing its mature and reliable Elementa “Diamond 2” energy storage solution platform. The system will be delivered in the form of a full AC-coupled solution. The project’s rated system capacity reaches 48.88MWh, with delivery scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
In addition, the cooperation includes a 16-year long-term service agreement covering comprehensive preventive maintenance, fault repair, and performance guarantees, ensuring the system’s long-term reliable operation throughout its lifecycle.
Risen Energy Signs 300MWh C&I Energy Storage Cooperation Agreements
Since December, Risen Energy has successively reached multiple strategic cooperation agreements in the commercial and industrial energy storage sector. Building on the 280MWh of contracts signed in early to mid-December, the company has recently added another 300MWh, bringing its total C&I energy storage contract volume in December to 580MWh.
These newly added orders are not only substantial in scale but also represent deep penetration into key markets such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong. Risen Energy has successfully partnered with several industry-leading companies, including Nanjing Panda Energy, Chenman Technology, Zhejiang Xichu Energy Storage, Shandong Impression New Energy, and Guoshan New Energy. The scope of cooperation goes beyond traditional equipment sales, integrating advanced application scenarios such as AI-driven energy management, SaaS platform applications, oil and gas energy transition, and virtual power plant development.
