From January 7 to 8, the energy storage industry chain recorded multiple new developments. Yili Technology and Guna New Energy advanced projects in solid-state battery cathode materials and solid electrolytes, respectively, either launching construction or completing investment agreements. At the same time, CATL’s Luoyang base and Guoke Energy’s Lanzhou base reported significant progress in project construction.
01 Yili Technology Launches Construction of Solid-State Battery Cathode Material Mass Production Line
On January 7, Yili Technology, a controlling subsidiary of Suzhou Tianhua New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Tianhua New Energy), officially launched the construction of a solid-state battery cathode material mass production line in Yixing, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. On the same day, the R&D building of the Tianhua New Energy (Yixing) New Materials Industrial Park was put into operation.
According to the plan, Yili Technology will invest RMB 1.12 billion in the industrial park to build a 19,000-square-meter production facility. Upon completion, the project is expected to form an automated production line with an annual capacity of 5,200 tons of high-nickel ternary cathode materials for solid-state batteries.
At present, the company has already completed and put into pilot operation a 200-ton-per-year pilot line, which will be used for process validation in preparation for future mass production.
At the launch ceremony, Yili Technology also signed strategic cooperation agreements with four companies: WeLion New Energy, Guxin New Energy, Heyuan Lithium Innovation, and Jingjiu New Energy.
02 Guna New Energy Signs Solid-State Electrolyte Manufacturing and R&D Project
On January 8, Xiamen Guna New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. officially signed an investment agreement with the Sanming Economic Development Zone in Fujian Province, confirming that a solid-state electrolyte project with a total investment of RMB 200 million will be located in the park.
The project will focus on the manufacturing and R&D of solid-state electrolytes, with an emphasis on addressing key technical challenges such as material consistency and stability, in order to accelerate the commercialization and mass production of related products.
03 CATL Accelerates Phase III Construction of Its 40 GWh Luoyang Base
On January 8, the first piece of equipment entered the Phase III cell plant at CATL’s Luoyang base, marking the project’s official transition into the equipment installation stage.
As one of CATL’s 13 major production bases worldwide, the Luoyang base is being developed in four phases in accordance with “lighthouse factory + zero-carbon factory” standards. Phase I and Phase II were put into operation in July 2024 and September 2025, respectively, with cumulative output value exceeding RMB 20 billion.
According to the project leader, Phase III—now entering the equipment installation stage—is designed with a planned capacity of 40 GWh. Meanwhile, construction of Phase IV is also being accelerated.
04 New Progress Achieved in Phase I of Gouke Energy’s 30 GWh Battery Base Project
On January 8, Guoke Energy (Lanzhou New Area) Co., Ltd. held the first hoisting ceremony for the steel structure of its cell plant under the Phase I project of its 30 GWh new energy battery production base, signaling that the project’s main construction has entered a new stage.
The project is planned with a total annual capacity of 30 GWh. Phase I involves an investment of RMB 2.8 billion and is designed to build a 10 GWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage cell production line.
Leveraging Guoke Energy’s integrated R&D and manufacturing capabilities across the entire energy storage battery value chain, the project is guided by technological innovation and a green, high-efficiency approach. Upon completion, it is expected to establish a comprehensive intelligent manufacturing system.
