Recently, several energy storage companies have made frequent moves in the overseas market. Sungrow signed a massive 1GWh energy storage order in Romania, while Samsung SDI secured a long-term energy storage battery contract worth approximately 6.9 billion RMB with a US energy company. Meanwhile, FoxESS, Zhiguang Electric, and Sumec Phono have successively finalized multiple strategic energy storage partnerships in Europe, comprehensively accelerating the industry's pace of overseas expansion.
Sungrow Signs 1GWh Energy Storage Mega-Order in Romania
On March 16, Sungrow announced that it had officially signed a cooperation agreement for an energy storage project with a total capacity of 1GWh with ENEVO Group, a Romanian EPC company.
Reportedly, the agreement consists of two phases: the first phase is a 440MWh project signed in early February this year, scheduled for delivery by December 2026; the second phase is 560MWh, expected to be delivered by the end of 2027.
All projects will be deployed within Romania and will utilize Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage solution.
Samsung SDI Secures 6.9 Billion RMB US Energy Storage Battery Order
On March 16, Samsung SDI announced that its North American subsidiary had signed an energy storage system battery supply contract with a US energy company. The total value of the contract is approximately 1.5 trillion Korean Won (about 6.9 billion RMB), with phased supply planned over a four-year period from 2026 to 2029.
These batteries will be produced at the Star Plus Energy (SPE) plant in Indiana, USA. This plant, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis, was previously dedicated to producing EV power batteries with an original capacity of 30GWh. Later, three-quarters of its production lines were converted to produce energy storage batteries, with a planned capacity of about 21GWh, set to begin production by the end of 2026.
Regarding specific product delivery strategies, Samsung SDI will initially supply its mature Nickel Cobalt Aluminum (NCA) ternary lithium batteries; subsequently, the supply scope will gradually expand to Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery products.
FoxESS Signs Multiple Strategic Cooperation Agreements
From March 10 to 12, the 2026 Solar Solutions Amsterdam exhibition was held at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. During the exhibition, FoxESS completed on-site strategic cooperation signings with four leading distributors: GPC, VDH POWER, OOSTERBERG, and OSW, further consolidating its channel layout and service capabilities in the Benelux market.
Concurrently, FoxESS released its brand-new all-in-one residential energy storage system, the "Power Q." Designed around four core advantages—flexible application, convenient installation, safety and durability, and AI monitoring—the product also won the "Top Innovation Award" presented by EUPD Research.
Zhiguang Electric and EDF Advance Energy Storage Business Cooperation
On March 12, an executive delegation from Électricité de France (EDF) visited Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd. This visit focused heavily on business alignment in the international energy storage market. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on core commercial topics such as customized development of energy storage systems, product supply, and investment cooperation in energy storage power stations, laying a solid foundation for Zhiguang Electric to expand its overseas energy storage orders and project collaborations.
During the core business symposium, both sides clarified that they will deepen cooperation in joint research and development of energy storage systems, customized product development, and the investment and operation of energy storage power stations. They will also jointly explore transformation opportunities in the French renewable energy market, promoting the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects in the new energy sector to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Sumec Phono Secures Energy Storage Project Order in the Netherlands
Recently, during the Solar Solutions 2026 exhibition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Phono Solar (PHONO), a subsidiary of Sumec Energy, signed a cooperation agreement with experienced local energy storage EPC contractors and professional energy suppliers to jointly promote the implementation of demonstration projects for Sumec Phono's new energy storage products in the Netherlands.
The project will utilize Sumec Phono's outdoor energy storage system, equipped with iBMS intelligent battery management technology, featuring plug-and-play capability, modular expansion, and long-lasting safety. The system can flexibly adapt to both residential and commercial/industrial scenarios. By improving energy utilization efficiency through intelligent energy management, it provides users with a reliable and economical energy storage solution.
