According to EnergyTrend, on March 18, Tongwei, Golden Solar, and Gold Stone held a joint strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Quanzhou. Under the agreement, the three parties will carry out in-depth collaboration around hybrid HBC cell technology and related projects, promoting the large-scale mass production and commercial application of this technology.
Hybrid HBC technology was pioneered by Gold Stone as an upgraded iteration based on conventional HBC cells. This technology innovatively integrates the traditional heterojunction passivation structure with the tunneling/polycrystalline structure, while combining the advantages of HJT, TOPCon and other technologies. As a result, the cell products feature high conversion efficiency, low production cost, simplified manufacturing process, attractive appearance and stable performance.
Since its launch, the technology has achieved continuous performance breakthroughs and upgrades. In March 2023, Gold Stone, together with the National Engineering Research Center for High-Efficiency Solar Cell Equipment and Technology, officially unveiled the hybrid HBC technology for the first time, with a cell conversion efficiency of 27.08%. In November 2024, the conversion efficiency was further improved to 27.62%.
Pursuant to the newly signed cooperation agreement, the three parties will build a large-scale hybrid HBC cell manufacturing base at Tongwei’s production site, tackling key links for technology industrialization. Meanwhile, they will establish a regular communication and coordination mechanism to optimize mass production processes, enhance technical capabilities, lower production costs and boost conversion efficiency.
The collaboration among Tongwei, Gold Stone and Golden Solar will leverage synergies to jointly drive the high-quality development of the hybrid HBC cell industry, aiming to secure a leading position in the high-efficiency photovoltaic cell sector.
