According to EnergyTrend, Chinese companies including Jinko Energy Storage, BYD Energy Storage, CECEP Times New Energy, and Sungrow Power have successively signed large overseas energy storage contracts in the past week, with a combined scale exceeding 6.8GWh, covering regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, and South Africa.
Jinko Energy Storage Signs 1GWh Energy Storage Project in Latin America
On March 26, Jinko Energy Storage announced that it had recently reached a strategic cooperation agreement with a key partner in Latin America for energy storage projects with a total scale of over 1GWh.
The relevant projects are mainly applied to grid-side and large-scale energy storage scenarios, and will adopt Jinko Energy Storage’s SunTera G3 6.25MWh battery energy storage system. In terms of capacity and application adaptability, the system uses high-energy-density cells combined with optimized thermal management design, achieving a large single-cabinet configuration of 6.25MWh, which can meet the demands of large-scale energy storage projects and adapt to diverse application scenarios.
Economically, the product is optimized over its full life cycle, boosting overall project revenue by approximately 5.8% while effectively reducing operation and maintenance costs, delivering superior LCOE performance and long-term value for customers.
BYD Energy Storage Wins 2.6GWh PV-Storage Project in Chile
On March 27, BYD Energy Storage announced that it had recently partnered with Spanish firm Grenergy to supply 468 sets of MC Cube-T energy storage systems for the Central Chile Oasis PV-Storage Project, with a total capacity of 2.6GWh.
This marks the second collaboration between the two sides following their 3.5GWh energy storage project in Latin America — the largest in the region at the time — signed in May 2025. The energy storage systems will be deployed across four PV-storage power stations: Gran Teno, Tamango, Planchón, and MonteÁguila.
Currently, 168 energy storage cabinets supplied by BYD Energy Storage for the Gran Teno PV-Storage Power Station have completed shipment in Shenzhen and are expected to arrive at the project site in mid-April. The remaining equipment is being delivered as scheduled, and the power station is slated to be connected to the grid and put into operation in the second quarter of this year.
The Central Chile Oasis PV-Storage Project has a total PV installed capacity of 1.1GW and an energy storage scale of 4GWh, with an estimated total investment of USD 900 million. It is planned to be fully commissioned and operational between 2026 and 2027, aiming to replicate the mature integrated PV-storage model of the Atacama Oasis Project.
Data shows that by 2025, BYD Energy Storage’s cumulative shipments of energy storage systems exceeded 135GWh, with over 650 energy storage projects successfully implemented across more than 110 countries and regions worldwide.
CECEP Times New Energy Wins Bid for 2GWh Energy Storage Project in Oman
On March 26, CECEP Times New Energy announced that it had recently signed a supply contract for 2GWh energy storage battery container equipment in Oman, and completed domestic port consolidation and delivery in the near term.
The project is fulfilled and delivered by New Energy Times, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CECEP Times New Energy. Beyond supplying energy storage battery containers, CECEP Times New Energy provides full life-cycle services covering solution design, on-site installation guidance, professional technical training, commissioning, operation and maintenance, and long-term technical support, fully demonstrating the company’s capabilities in delivering systematic solutions and comprehensive service advantages in the energy storage sector.
Sungrow Power Secures Over 1.2GWh Energy Storage Orders in Japan and South Africa
Sungrow Power has successively won major orders in two key overseas energy storage markets — Japan and South Africa — accelerating its global layout.
On March 18, Sungrow Power signed a battery energy storage system agreement with Japanese renewable energy firm Blue Sky Energy. Under the agreement, Sungrow Power will supply 100MWh of energy storage systems to support Blue Sky Energy’s goal of developing and constructing 100 energy storage power stations across Japan.
On March 25, Sungrow Power reached a cooperation agreement with South Africa’s renowned energy group Herholdt’s Group to jointly deploy 1155MWh of commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems. This partnership marks a significant upgrade in Sungrow Power’s strategic layout in the South African energy storage market, reflecting strong local recognition of its C&I energy storage solutions and robust demand in Africa’s energy storage market.
With two key projects landed within a week, totaling over 1.2GWh, Sungrow Power has fully demonstrated its brand influence and market competitiveness in the overseas energy storage industry.
