Recently, leading photovoltaic (PV) enterprises have been accelerating the production line upgrades for next-generation, high-efficiency cell technologies. The technological upgrade project for the BC modules of Jiaxing LONGi Lerri has been officially filed. Meanwhile, the 2GW GPC mass production technological upgrade project at GCL Integration’s Wuhu base has also entered the public notification stage for environmental impact assessment (EIA). Both companies are carrying out upgrades on their original TOPCon production lines to further enhance product performance.
LONGi BC Module Upgrading Project Officially Filed
On May 22, the technological upgrade project for the photovoltaic BC module products of Jiaxing LONGi Lerri was officially filed.
It is understood that this project involves a total investment of approximately 230 million yuan and is classified as a reconstruction project. The construction plan entails upgrading the four TOPCon production lines in Workshop 4 of Jiaxing LONGi Lerri into four HPBC 2.0 production lines. This will be achieved by introducing 253 sets of advanced equipment, including S4 special machines, automatic green/grey glue dispensing equipment, cell transfer lines, laminating machines, and automatic cell loading machines. Additionally, 44 sets of existing equipment—such as assembly lines, backsheet cutting machines, junction box welding machines, and final inspection AI—will undergo modifications.
The project unit is Jiaxing LONGi Lerri Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd., and the construction site is located in Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. The proposed commencement date for the project is June 2026, with a targeted completion date of December 2028.
EIA Public Notification for GCL's 2GW GPC Mass Production Upgrading Project
On May 21, the environmental impact report for GCL Integration's Wuhu 2GW GPC mass production technological upgrade project underwent its pre-approval public notification.
Reportedly, the project is located within the existing factory area of Wuhu GCL Integration New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., situated at the intersection of Wuxuan Avenue and Nanhu Road in Wanzhi District, Wuhu City. The project plans to implement GPC process technological upgrades on the existing TOPCon production line equipment. It will also introduce core GPC cell processing equipment, such as laser film opening machines, in order to improve product performance.
The scale of this GPC mass production upgrade is 2GW. Following the modification, the overall solar cell production capacity of the entire plant will remain unchanged at 12GW. However, the product structure composition will be adjusted from 12GW of TOPCon cells to 10GW of TOPCon cells alongside 2GW of GPC cells.
