EnergyTrend has learned that four enterprises, namely Canadian Solar, Sungrow, REsource Electric and RelyEZ Energy, have recently secured successive overseas energy storage orders covering projects in Italy, Vietnam and Poland respectively.
Canadian Solar Signs Italian Energy Storage Project
On June 23, Canadian Solar announced that its energy storage subsidiary, Canadian Solar Energy Storage, has inked an agreement with a subsidiary of Swiss renewable energy firm Axpo to deploy a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 8MW/40MWh in southern Italy.
This marks Canadian Solar Energy Storage’s maiden energy storage project in Italy. Sited within Axpo’s existing combined-cycle gas power plant in Rizziconi, Calabria Region of Italy, the project is scheduled to break ground by the end of 2026 and achieve grid connection and commercial operation in early 2028.
Under the agreement, Canadian Solar Energy Storage will deliver a turnkey full BESS solution for the project, including the 5MWh SolBank 3.0 energy storage system equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, power conversion systems (PCS), and an energy management system (EMS). All core equipment is independently developed, designed and manufactured by Canadian Solar Energy Storage.
Sungrow Secures 260MWh European Energy Storage Order
According to Italy’s Solare B2B on May 28, Sungrow recently signed a strategic agreement with ENGIE Italia to supply a 65MW/260MWh battery energy storage system for the Faulia area in the Province of Pisa, Italy.
Per the contract, Sungrow will supply 52 sets of 4-hour PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage systems, 13 units of MVS5140LS medium-voltage converters, an energy management system (EMS), full-site commissioning services, alongside a 20-year Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA).
Sungrow is expected to complete equipment delivery in Q1 2027, with commercial operation slated for Q3 2027.
REsource Electric Signs Vietnamese Energy Storage Project
On June 22, REsource Electric announced a cooperation deal with Electricity of Vietnam Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) for a large grid-side energy storage project with a capacity of 110MWh.
The project is among EVNNPC’s first batch of energy storage demonstration schemes, and also REsource Electric’s first overseas EPC project to be implemented. Its core equipment adopts REsource Electric’s self-developed centralized energy storage system, integrating 5MWh battery containers and integrated PCS & step-up transformer containers. The products hold multiple authoritative international certifications such as CE and UN, and have been put into operation across numerous countries and regions.
RelyEZ Energy Ships Equipment for Polish Energy Storage Project
On June 18, RelyEZ Energy announced that its 4MW/16MWh energy storage project in Poland has passed factory acceptance and been officially shipped.
The project adopts RelyEZ Energy’s GridUltra 4180 liquid-cooled energy storage system, which is deeply integrated with grid-forming PCS to accurately respond to dynamic grid demands and drastically enhance grid stability. Additionally, targeted noise reduction optimization has been implemented during design to comply with strict European noise standards, enabling the system to fully adapt to local environmental conditions and grid dispatching requirements.
To date, RelyEZ Energy has supplied energy storage products and solutions to multiple countries and regions including Poland, Hungary, Chile, the United States, Japan, Kenya and Burkina Faso, with cumulative contracted order capacity exceeding 10GWh.
