Recently, the domestic and overseas energy storage and lithium battery supply chains have witnessed a new wave of project signings and construction kick-offs. Companies like Hyperstrong and XTC New Energy are accelerating their global expansion, deepening their localized manufacturing and materials layout in Malaysia. Domestically, Sigenergy, Shenzhen Jilian, and Lihe Houpu have also made fresh progress with their respective projects in energy storage systems, semi-solid-state battery cells, and cathode materials.
Hyperstrong Partners with RCT Power to Establish Energy Storage Capacity in Southeast Asia
On June 24, at the Intersolar Europe exhibition, Hyperstrong signed a strategic joint venture agreement with RCT Power in Malaysia. The two parties will work together to build a localized manufacturing platform for energy storage in Southeast Asia.
Reportedly, RCT Power has already established its own energy storage production base in Malaysia, building a mature ecosystem for local production, supply chain support, and regional delivery services. This facility is capable of delivering energy storage products across all scenarios, including residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), utility-scale (generation and grid side), and marine applications.
The strategic partnership with Hyperstrong will inject new production capacity and resources, fully unleashing the core advantages of RCT Power's existing Malaysian factory in manufacturing and localized operations. This move will further expand the scale of overseas product deliveries while simultaneously optimizing their global business layout network.
Sigenergy Breaks Ground on New Project in Nantong
On June 29, the second phase of the Sigenergy Nantong Smart Energy Center and the New Energy Energy Storage System Structural Components Project—with a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan—officially commenced construction in the Su-Xi-Tong Park.
According to the plan, once both Phase I and Phase II of the Nantong Smart Energy Center are fully completed, the total area will approach 400,000 square meters, fully covering all-scenario demands including residential, C&I, and large-scale utility storage. In the future, this base will serve as a crucial intelligent manufacturing hub, production delivery center, and supply chain collaboration base for Sigenergy's global market, providing more stable, efficient, and reliable capacity guarantees for global customers and partners.
Simultaneously breaking ground is the New Energy Energy Storage System Structural Components Project, a joint venture between Sigenergy and Xianghua. Covering an area of 170,000 square meters, the project is expected to generate an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan. Upon completion, it will further enhance Sigenergy's design, processing, and manufacturing capabilities in high-precision sheet metal and die-casting, reinforcing its core structural component process system and laying a solid manufacturing foundation for the iterative upgrade of future high-end energy storage products.
10,000-Ton Lithium-Ion Cathode Material Project Lands in Malaysia
On June 26, XTC New Energy announced its plan to establish a new wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong, Xiamen Tungsten New Energy (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. (referred to as "XTC New Energy Hong Kong"). Through this entity, XTC New Energy will form a joint venture with EMI in Malaysia, named Xiamen Tungsten New Energy (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (referred to as "XTC New Energy Malaysia"). This Malaysian joint venture will invest 64.58 million USD (approximately 450 million yuan) to execute a project with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons of lithium-ion cathode materials.
EMI intends to construct standard industrial buildings on its own land plot according to process requirements and lease them to XTC New Energy Malaysia. The latter will then carry out adaptive renovations, modifications, and equipment installation to rapidly deploy the 10,000-ton lithium-ion cathode material production line.
The project is scheduled to be constructed in Hulu Selangor District, Selangor State, Malaysia. The construction period is planned from September 2026 to June 2027, spanning a total of 10 months (the specific construction timeline is subject to actual conditions).
XTC New Energy stated that this investment is a vital step in perfecting the company's overseas capacity layout and meeting international market demands. It will help deepen long-term strategic cooperation with downstream customers, further expand overseas markets, and enhance the company's responsiveness and service capabilities regarding international market demands.
Semi-Solid-State Lithium-Ion Battery Cell Project Lands in Dezhou
On June 24, the signing ceremony for Shenzhen Jilian's Semi-Solid-State Lithium-Ion Battery Cell Project was held in Xiajin County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province.
It is understood that Shenzhen Jilian focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of energy storage and lithium batteries, independently mastering core technologies for semi-solid-state lithium-ion batteries. Compared to traditional liquid lithium batteries, their products offer distinct advantages in safety, cycle life, and energy density. Additionally, they feature lower production conversion costs and higher industrialization efficiency.
With the official signing of the Xiajin project, Shenzhen Jilian has established a coordinated dual-location layout in Dezhou, spanning Qihe and Xiajin. This will further improve the local high-end energy storage battery cell supply chain and boost the development of Dezhou's new energy industry cluster.
Retrofit Project for 10,000-Ton Lithium Battery Cathode Material Capacity Open for Public Notice
Recently, Hunan Lihe Houpu Technology Co., Ltd. released a pre-approval public notice for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of its project: a recycling and retrofitting initiative for a production line with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons of lithium battery materials.
The project will utilize existing factory buildings for reconstruction. It involves retrofitting Line 1 of the existing ternary precursor cathode material production line (5,000 tons/year) to add a nickel-cobalt-manganese mixed metal dissolution and impurity removal process. Meanwhile, the existing 5,000-ton/year iron phosphate production line will be converted into Line 2 of the ternary precursor cathode material production line (5,000 tons/year). Trial production for the ternary precursor cathode materials will continue to rely on the existing pilot line, while treatment measures for production exhaust gas, wastewater, and solid waste will also be upgraded.
Upon completion, the entire plant will achieve an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of ternary precursor cathode materials.
