Recently, the battery and energy storage supply chain has ushered in a new wave of intensive project implementations and construction, covering multiple links from materials to battery manufacturing and application ends.
Overseas, Samsung SDI plans to advance the layout of production lines for all-solid-state batteries, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and sodium-ion batteries in South Korea, accelerating the commercialization of next-generation technologies. Domestically, from lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) and electrolyte materials to the manufacturing of lithium batteries and charging pile energy storage systems, multiple projects have seen concentrated groundbreakings and signings across various regions, driving the continuous expansion of the industrial chain.
Samsung SDI Plans to Build All-Solid-State/LFP/Sodium-Ion Battery Production Lines
On July 3, foreign media reported that Samsung SDI plans to invest nearly 25 trillion won at its Ulsan base in South Korea between 2026 and 2040 for the production of next-generation battery technologies.
Out of this, 16 trillion won (approximately 70.88 billion RMB) is planned for the construction of production lines in Ulsan, South Korea, for all-solid-state batteries as well as LFP and sodium-ion batteries intended for energy storage. The remaining 9 trillion won will be allocated to the Cheonan plant to transform it into a research, development, and manufacturing center for next-generation batteries.
Specifically, Samsung SDI plans to take the lead in realizing the commercial implementation of solid-state batteries in its home market of South Korea by 2027, making it the first domestic battery company to commercialize this technology.
190,000-Ton Lithium Battery Material Project Breaks Ground
On July 2, Jiangsu Oxirane's high-end fine chemical new material project, with an annual output of 190,000 tons, officially broke ground.
The project is located in the Jiangsu Oxirane production facility within the Yangzhou Chemical Industry Park, Jiangsu Province. With a total investment of approximately 2 billion RMB, it plans to implement technical upgrades and expansions based on the existing factory area. The planned total production capacity is 190,000 tons per year, with products covering high-end fine chemicals such as the ethylene carbonate (EC) series and the alcohol ether series.
Within the project's product line, the annual production of 90,000 tons of battery-grade ethylene carbonate (EC) and 10,000 tons of industrial-grade EC serves as one of the primary materials for lithium-ion battery electrolytes.
65 GWh Annual Capacity Lithium Battery Project Begins Construction
On July 1, the groundbreaking ceremony and mobilization meeting for the construction of the Sany Lithium Energy Lighthouse Factory was held at the Sany Pumping New City Industrial Park in Changsha, Hunan.
It is reported that the project involves a total investment of 388 million RMB, with a planned annual production capacity of 65 GWh, and is expected to be completed and put into production by July 2027.
The project will comprehensively introduce core technologies such as flexible automated production lines, AI intelligent inspection, and industrial internet platforms. Centered around the five core concepts of production line upgrade, digital-intelligent upgrade, lean upgrade, green upgrade, and humanistic upgrade, it aims to establish a new benchmark for intelligent manufacturing in the lithium battery industry.
82,000-Ton Lithium-Ion Battery Functional New Material Project Lands in Jingmen
On June 30, the foundation was laid for Hubei Haodian's 82,000-ton lithium-ion battery functional new material project.
Located in the Jingmen Chemical Circular Economy Industrial Park in Hubei, the project has a total investment of 390 million RMB and covers a total land area of approximately 124 mu (about 20.4 acres), with a planned annual output of 82,000 tons of lithium battery functional new materials.
According to the plan, the project will enter the trial production phase in the second half of 2027. Once it reaches full production capacity, the estimated annual output value is expected to exceed 1 billion RMB.
100,000-Ton LMFP Material Project Signed and Settled
On June 28, Zhongying Group held the signing ceremony for its lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) material project with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons.
According to reports, the newly signed 100,000-ton LMFP material project is settled in the Lizhou Industrial Park, with a total investment of 2.6 billion RMB and covering an area of approximately 260 mu (about 42.8 acres).
The project will construct new standardized production workshops, a comprehensive office building, and complementary auxiliary facilities. It will deploy eight fully automatic and intelligent production lines and add over 4,000 units (sets) of various production equipment.
Charging Pile and Energy Storage Intelligent Manufacturing Project Signed in Foshan
Recently, Mai's Digital Energy's charging pile and energy storage intelligent manufacturing project was officially signed and landed in Nanhai District, Foshan.
It is understood that the project plans to invest in building a charging pile intelligent manufacturing base. This will include assembly lines and component production lines for factory facilities, complete sets of power equipment, AC/DC charging piles, and energy storage systems, aiming to create a digital-intelligent manufacturing base that integrates the production of new power system equipment, charging piles, and energy storage devices.
