Recently, the construction and capacity layout of lithium battery and energy storage projects by five companies, including Shanshan Corporation, Sigenergy, and BYD, have been continuously advancing.
Shanshan Corporation Plans to Build a 150,000-Ton Lithium Battery Anode Material Project
On September 23, Shanshan Corporation issued an announcement stating that the company plans to build an integrated base project for lithium-ion battery anode materials with an annual output of 150,000 tons in the Equipment Manufacturing Park, Qingshan District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. The total investment of the project is approximately 5.106 billion yuan.
The project construction period is 17 months, with construction scheduled to begin in March 2027 and expected completion in July 2028. Once completed, the project will form an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons of lithium-ion battery anode materials, along with a supporting graphitization capacity of 50,000 tons.
Main Structure of Sigenergy's Nantong Smart Energy Center Phase II Project Topped Out
On September 21, the main structure of Sigenergy's Nantong Smart Energy Center Phase II project was successfully topped out.
With a total investment of 1 billion yuan, the Phase II project mainly focuses on the production of energy storage equipment for large-scale ground-mounted power stations. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will complement the production capacity of the Phase I project (which primarily targets residential, commercial, and industrial energy storage) commissioned in March this year, achieving the coverage of a full-scenario energy storage product matrix across "residential, commercial/industrial, and large-scale ground-mounted power stations."
Currently, the Phase II project has transitioned into the subsequent construction and production preparation stage, and is scheduled to officially open in the first quarter of 2027.
BYD Plans to Build a Battery Factory in Europe
Recently, Alfredo Altavilla, BYD's European advisor, stated that in order to achieve sales targets and comply with relevant EU regulations, BYD plans in the long run to build one battery factory and three vehicle assembly plants in Europe.
To reduce capital costs and shorten the construction cycle, BYD prefers to wholly acquire and retrofit existing old factories rather than building from scratch. Currently, France and Spain have been listed as candidate locations, and the company plans to determine the site for its second European factory by the end of this year.
Environmental Impact Assessment of Neijiang's 5GWh Sodium-Ion Battery Cell Project Open for Public Comment
On September 20, the environmental impact registration form for the 5GWh sodium-ion digital battery cell factory project in Dongxing District, Neijiang City, was published for public comment. The project had completed its administrative filing on September 16.
With a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan, the project is invested and constructed by Jintaiyang Yaona (Sichuan) Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary under the holding company of Chilwee Group. The project has a total construction area of 80,000 square meters and will be constructed in two phases, with Phase I and Phase II each planning a production capacity of 2.5GWh of sodium-ion battery cells.
The construction content includes a 5GWh battery cell production line, warehousing, power stations, and other supporting facilities. It will also build a digital management platform integrating production, financial materials, and warehousing.
Megarevo Signs Energy Storage Project in Zhuhai
On September 9, the Megarevo energy storage system production base project was officially signed in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, simultaneously bringing in strategic investment from Zhengling Holdings.
The project has a planned total investment of 300 million yuan, with the first phase constructing a 14,000-square-meter energy storage system production base. The investment in this new base aims to promote Megarevo's extension from core energy storage equipment to systematic solutions, further enhancing its standardized production, system integration, and large-scale delivery capabilities in energy storage systems.
