Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited, the vertically integrated photovoltaic ("PV") module manufacturer in the world, known as "Yingli Solar", announced on November 15th that it has shipped more than 1MW of PV modules to Kingdom of Jordan ("Jordan") accumulatively, which marks a milestone of Yingli Green Energy in the Middle East market development and represents a market share of approximately 20% of Jordan in 2013.
The majority of energy supply in Jordan was from importation for a long time. Therefore, the Jordan government issued Updated Master Strategy of Energy Sector for the period (2007-2020) in 2007, which aims to increase the country's solar generation capacity to 600MW by 2020. In addition, the renewable energy law in 2012 allows investors to develop grid connected electricity production through the new energies including solar.
"We are delighted to develop strong partnerships with Jordan's solar energy companies and have shipped more than 1MW of PV modules to this new market in a short period, although we established our Jordanian operations less than one year," said Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy.
