Taiwanese PV industry has called emergent meetings to discuss reactions against U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) anti-dumping tariff rates, hoping to reverse the final determination.
At a meeting called by Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA) on this Tuesday, Sam Hong, Chairman of TPVIA and CEO of NSP, revealed three conclusions made by Taiwanese PV makers: (1) the makers will work closely with the U.S. investigators to evaluate dumping facts for the final determination in January, 2014; (2) simultaneously, the makers will endeavor to negotiate with the U.S. International Trade Committee (ITC) and convince ITC that Taiwan-made PV products don’t cause any harm to the U.S.’s PV industry; and (3) the makers ask Taiwan’s government to supply political and financial supports.
Is it possible for Taiwanese PV manufacturers to turn over the determination? Sam Hong said: “There were examples showing that ITC may deny DOC’s determination. We will try every probable approach to achieve this.”
Besides, forming a limit price agreement with the U.S. to reduce the tariff rates is another approach for Taiwanese PV makers to maintain their market appearance in the U.S. market.
Regarding the rapidly cut orders, a spokesman of NSP said that it will become better and better in the future. It is forecasted that order-receiving can reach back to balance in the fourth quarter of 2014. However, the this year’s profit is to be estimated.
