Being supported by Washington Gas Energy Systems and specific companies, Stion has completed two solar projects in Georgia totaling 4MW. One of them was a 3MW DC project around the state with Inman Solar, and the other was a 1 MW solar array at the Vidalia Water Treatment Facility in the same state.
Stion is a U.S.-based manufacturer of high efficiency thin-film solar modules and a provider of PV solutions. Over the past three months, Stion and Inman Solar have constructed three 1MW solar projects by a partnership stemmed from Washington Gas Energy Systems’ mission to use high-quality products from domestic companies.
“Along with Washington Gas Energy Systems’ support for the product, we decided to try Stion’s panels and compare performance to our other sites that have crystalline type panels. The coming months should tell us how they stack up,” said Dan Fossitt, President of Inman Solar.
Meanwhile, Hannah Solar, another American solar developing and EPC company, adopted Stion’s solar modules to improve energy yield in Vidalia Water Treatment Facility in Vidalia, Georgia. Pete Marte, CEO and President of Hannah Solar, said: “The total system cost was lower and it produced more energy than the other options we considered.”
The solar projects were both brought into reality by the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative (GPASI) and will be owned and operated by Washington Gas Energy Systems.
