Weike.com Lithium Battery has learned that recently, four energy storage battery projects in Jiangsu, Gansu, and Shaanxi provinces have reported positive progress and are all expected to achieve partial or full production within this year.
From the perspective of construction content, these are primarily 300Ah+ large energy storage batteries, indicating that large storage cells will further become mainstream, and the competitive landscape will enter a new stage. According to previous statistics from InfoLink, 300Ah+ cell products have already approached a nearly 50% market share in the global large-scale energy storage market in a single quarter. The mass production timelines for 500Ah+ cells from leading cell manufacturers are also gradually becoming clear, with 500Ah+ cell products expected to enter the mass production stage successively in the second half of 2025.
Jiangsu 20GWh Energy Storage Battery Manufacturing Project
According to Binhai Rong Media, the Jiangsu Jiyuan 20GWh energy storage lithium battery manufacturing project has recently made new progress. The project is proceeding in an orderly manner according to the plan, striving for the completion and commissioning of the first phase in the third quarter of this year to achieve the goal of the first batch of batteries leaving the factory.
Weike.com Lithium Battery understands that this project is one of the major provincial projects settled in Binhai Economic Development Zone this year. It is being implemented by Yancheng Yuanzhi Sheng Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Jiyuan. The total investment of the project is 5 billion yuan, divided into two phases.
The first phase involves an investment of 3 billion yuan, with a planned production capacity of 10GWh, covering an area of 150 mu (approximately 24.7 acres) and a construction area of 68,742.86 square meters, encompassing 11 independent single-unit projects. It is expected that all projects in the first phase will be completed around the second half of 2026. The second phase involves an investment of 2 billion yuan to build a prefabricated cabin manufacturing production line. Upon full production, the project can achieve an annual output of 20GWh of energy storage lithium batteries.
Gansu 8GWh + 1.5 Billion Yuan Energy Storage Battery Project
According to the Baiyin District Rong Media Center, the 8GWh lithium iron phosphate battery project of Gansu Yingao Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yingao Energy Storage") is accelerating its construction. It is expected to be completed before June, with the installation and commissioning of production equipment planned before August, and the entire process of single-unit material feeding and trial operation, production process flow-through, qualified product launch, and promotion of product mass sales is planned to be completed before December.
The total investment in the Yingao Energy Storage project is 2.7 billion yuan, including 4GWh of energy storage batteries and 4GWh of power batteries, planned to be built in two phases. The first phase involves an investment of 1.3 billion yuan to build a 4GWh lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery project, mainly producing 340Ah square aluminum-shell lithium iron phosphate batteries. The second phase involves an investment of 1.4 billion yuan to build a 4GWh lithium iron phosphate power battery production line and supporting auxiliary facilities. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can achieve an annual output value of approximately 7 billion yuan and tax revenue of 256 million yuan.
Official website information shows that Yingao Energy Storage's main business is the research and development, production, and sales of lithium-ion batteries. The company's business is mainly divided into five sectors: wind and solar power energy storage, residential energy storage, portable energy storage, recycling, and passenger vehicles. The current main product is a 280Ah square aluminum-shell lithium iron phosphate battery.
According to reports, Baiyin District insists on carrying out "chain-based investment promotion." On the basis of developing lithium iron phosphate battery projects, it has introduced the Lingchu Yu'neng Northwest (Baiyin) Intelligent Manufacturing Base project to promote the vertical integration and development of the new energy industry. Lingchu Yu'neng, located across the road from Yingao Energy Storage, started construction later, but its construction "progress bar" is also nearing completion and is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of June this year.
It is reported that the total investment of the Lingchu Yu'neng Northwest (Baiyin) Intelligent Manufacturing Base project is expected to be 1.5 billion yuan, planned to be implemented in two phases, mainly producing energy storage inverters, battery management systems, energy storage battery PACKs, and energy storage system integration. After the project is put into operation, it can achieve an annual output value of 5 billion yuan, solve employment for more than 500 people, and will also form a complete energy storage industry chain driven by energy storage system integration, helping the rapid development of the new energy industry chain in Baiyin District.
Shaanxi 3.5GWh Energy Storage Battery Demonstration Project
According to Shaanxi Coal Group, the 3.5GWh/year advanced energy storage power battery industrialization demonstration project of Shaanxi Coal Research Institute Qingke Energy Company has recently made new progress. The first batch of 314Ah high-capacity cells on the 320Ah battery production line has officially rolled off the line, and other project milestones are proceeding in an orderly manner according to the plan. The overall project is expected to be completed in June, and comprehensive completion acceptance is expected before the end of the year.
It is reported that the energy efficiency of the first batch of 314Ah high-capacity cells exceeds 95.5%, and the high-rate discharge capacity and cycle life are more than 15% higher than conventional products in the industry. They meet stable operation in the full temperature range of -20℃ to 60℃ and can be widely used in grid-side frequency regulation and peak shaving, energy storage in new energy power stations, and industrial and commercial energy storage scenarios, and can meet the needs of large-scale deployment.
The project is located in the Aerospace Base of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, and is a key project of Shaanxi Province and Xi'an City in 2025. It has three cell production lines for 50Ah, 100Ah, and 320Ah, as well as supporting public and auxiliary engineering, with a total annual production capacity of 3.5GWh. The project officially started construction in November 2023 and is expected to achieve an average annual sales revenue of 1.4 billion yuan and a profit of 150 million yuan after reaching full production capacity.
