Seiko to Adopt Lithium Batteries Made by Highpower

Seiko Japan recently started purchasing lithium batteries from Highpower International Inc. for its watch and wireless digital products. Highpower is a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of lithium and nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries, management systems as well as battery recycling services.

“The wearable device market presents tremendous opportunities for Highpower. A recent survey conducted by Accenture showed that wearable devices will become more popular worldwide over the next five years. The survey was conducted online between October and November 2014, with 24,000 respondents in 24 countries, including China, Australia, Brazil, France, Turkey and the United States. The survey states that 73% of Chinese consumers want to purchase a smart watch in the next five years. At present, wearable devices are marketed by a number of companies, including Timex, Apple, Samsung, and China's Xiaomi.
