Delta V: A Smarphone that Recharges With its Own Energy Sources

published: 2016-01-18 17:06

Neda Design introduced the first hybrid-energy independent smartphone called ‘Delta V’. It’s a smartphone that can be charged through 3 different ways – a photovoltaic film, a piezoelecic film, and a triboelectric film. No charger is needed as the nanogenerators under the films can convert even the slightest vibrations and movements into power for the phone to function.

The packaging for the phone is a small book with a case for the phone inside, so it can be stored or used to store other small things on a bookcase. What is noticeably lacking from the packaging is the usual charger that comes with every other phone out there, since it never needs one.

The project was developed by Niki D. Chania (Neda Design), a mechanical engineer and industrial designer, during her studies at AKTO Art & Design School in Athens.
