Large Choice in Sedans, Audi Debuts A6 Avant E-tron Electric Concept

Audi unveiled its latest concept car, the A6 Avant E-tron, last week, a large pure-electric touring sedan that is "infinitely close" to a production version and is expected to hit the market in 2023.

Last week, Audi exhibited their latest electric car A6 Avant E-tron using a new PPE platform and, although it is a concept car, officials pointed out that there will be no significant difference between the concept and the actual production version.

The electric vehicle chassis determines the specifications of the vehicle. The PPE (Premium Platfrom Electric) jointly developed by Audi and its sister company Porsche is the latest EV architecture. The A6 Avant E-tron is the first model to use this platform and a Porsche is coming soon. The new all-electric car, the Macan EV, will also use this platform.

▲800V high voltage architecture allows the A6 Avant e-tron to charge from 5 to 80% in just 25 minutes

The A6 Avant E-tron is a large-scale pure electric touring vehicle. Supported by the new platform, the pure electric A6 will become Audi's endurance champion with a full electric range of 700 kilometers (WLTP data). Acceleration from 0-60 will be less than 4 seconds and it also supports 270 kW power fast charging which can fill 300 kilometers of battery life in 10 minutes.

From its appearance, you can clearly see the power of a touring vehicle. The length of the car reaches 4,960 mm. Although the official wheelbase has not been announced, in the PPE structure, wheelbase is about 3 meters. With a car width of 1960 mm, interior space is definitely quite spacious. .

In order to provide comfortable space and ensure battery life, the pure electric A6 is very aerodynamic, achieving a wind resistance of 0.22 Cd, which is very close to the 0.20 of the Mercedes-Benz EQS.

As the most powerful car in the E-tron series, the A6 Avant-Etron is, of course, also equipped with Digital Matrix LED headlights which improves safety and adds fun to light and shadow projection. The four corners of the body are also equipped with LED projection lights to provide turn lighting and there is recessed lighting on both sides of the body to welcome guests and warn pedestrians and bicycles before the door opens.

The A6 Avant E-tron concept car is not a futuristic car full of crazy sci-fi imagination. On the contrary, it is simply a collection of the top strengths of Audi's current car-making technology, which will go on sale in 2023.

This obviously creates a peculiar phenomenon in the electric vehicle market. The petty bourgeoisie want to buy an electric vehicle under NT$1 million but there are basically no models to choose from. The luxury car owners with deeper pockets are ready to get new cars but they face a lot of choice. Sports cars, sedans, and SUVs are all options. Compared with the high price of a NT$8 million Benz EQS in Taiwan, the Audi A6 Avant E-tron should look pretty mundane but a price of around 5 million should be expected.
