Jinko Solar Submits 1440MWh Solar-Storage Project Proposal in Australia

published: 2025-07-07 16:06

Jinko Solar Australia has submitted a proposal for a 1440MWh solar-plus-storage project in New South Wales under the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC). The project includes a 133.76MW solar farm and a 360MW/1,440MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

Located in the rural area of Garoo, east of the New England Highway, the project will span 369 hectares. The site is part of a growing solar and storage hub, with neighboring developments such as Total Eren’s 600MWh Middlebrook project and Venn Energy’s 1200MWh Lambruk project.

The Garoo solar-plus-storage project will be connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM), which serves Australia's eastern and southern coasts as well as Tasmania. Pending development approval, construction of the BESS is expected to begin next year, with a construction period of approximately 18 months. The project is scheduled to commence operations in 2028 and has a planned operational life of 30 years.

Additionally, last year Jinko Solar submitted another EPBC application for the Beebo project in Queensland. Located southwest of Inglewood in southern Queensland, this project includes a 600MW solar farm paired with a 400MW/800MWh (2-hour) battery storage system.
