According to EnergyTrend, many lithium battery energy storage projects have recently commenced construction and entered public notice in multiple regions. Projects including Ganfeng LiEnergy in Dongguan, Shengxing Technology in Ningxiang, and BYD in Nanning have advanced successively, with a total planned capacity of over 115GWh.
Ganfeng LiEnergy Starts Construction of 10GWh Lithium Battery Energy Storage Project
According to Meili Machong, on February 25, the inauguration and commencement ceremony of Ganfeng LiEnergy Dongguan Base was held in Machong Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province.
With a total planned investment of 5 billion yuan and an area of approximately 325.5 mu, Ganfeng LiEnergy’s annual 10GWh new-type lithium battery and energy storage headquarters base project mainly engages in the R&D and production of lithium iron phosphate, semi-solid-state cells, light-duty power batteries, outdoor portable energy storage power supplies, residential energy storage, industrial and commercial energy storage systems, etc.
As planned, the base will be strategically positioned as the headquarters of Ganfeng LiEnergy’s energy storage division, a R&D center and production base for new-type energy storage batteries. It plans to build 10GWh of new-type energy storage lithium batteries, including 3GWh of light-duty power PACK, 2GWh of outdoor portable energy storage PACK, and 5GWh of residential and industrial & commercial energy storage system PACK products.
Shengxing Technology Breaks Ground on 60GWh Lithium Battery Project
According to Ningxiang Fabu, on February 24, the concentrated commencement ceremony for major projects in Ningxiang City, Hunan Province in the first quarter of 2026 was held at the construction site of Shengxing Technology’s new-generation lithium battery R&D and comprehensive production base in Ningxiang Economic Development Zone.
It is reported that Shengxing Technology’s new-generation lithium battery production base covers a total land area of 1,008 mu and is listed as one of Hunan Province’s top ten industrial projects in 2026. The project will be constructed in two phases for new-generation lithium battery cells and supporting modules & PACK, with a total scale of 60GWh.
Among them:
- Phase I covers about 549 mu, with 4 production lines totaling 20GWh of cells and supporting modules & PACK, to be put into operation in March 2027. Meanwhile, 32,000 square meters of standard workshops will be leased to build transitional production lines for supporting modules & PACK.
- Phase II covers 459 mu, with 8 production lines totaling 40GWh of cells.
Upon full operation, the project is expected to meet the battery demand for about 1 million new energy vehicles (including construction machinery) or more than 50 large-scale commercial energy storage power stations.
BYD Publicizes Annual 45GWh Battery Project
On February 5, the People's Government of Qingxiu District, Nanning, Guangxi, released a pre-approval announcement regarding the Guangxi FinDreams 45GWh Power Battery and Energy Storage System Project.
According to the announcement, the project is being invested in and constructed by Guangxi FinDreams Battery Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of BYD) and is located in the Qingxiu District of Nanning. This public notice is issued due to production needs, with plans to adjust relevant contents.
