Recently, several key projects in the energy storage and battery materials sectors have successively made new progress.

Rongchu Technology10GWh Energy Storage System Project Officially Signed

On March 9, Jiangsu Rongchu Technology Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement with Sanxing Town, Haimen District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, marking the successful establishment of the Rongchu Nantong Energy Storage Factory project, which involves a total investment of 500 million RMB.

According to the plan, the first phase of the project will construct two automated module PACK production lines and one energy storage system integration line. Upon completion, it will achieve an annual production and delivery capacity of 10GWh for energy storage system products. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of 3 billion RMB.

Tinci MaterialsPlans to Build a 300,000-Ton Annual Iron Phosphate Project

On the evening of March 9, Tinci Materials issued an announcement stating that, in line with its strategic development plan for lithium-ion battery materials, the company intends to build a new energy materials industrial park in Yichang, Hubei Province, through its subsidiary Hubei Tinci. The construction will include a project with an annual capacity of 1 million tons of iron source materials and 300,000 tons of iron phosphate. The total investment is estimated not to exceed 2.1 billion RMB, and the specific investment amount will be determined based on preliminary work, including the project's feasibility analysis and application procedures.

Meanwhile, the announcement also disclosed the progress of other Hubei Tinci projects. The announcement revealed that on July 11, 2022, the company had published the "Announcement on the Proposed Establishment of a Wholly-Owned Subsidiary to Carry Out Preliminary Work for a Project with an Annual Output of 400,000 Tons of Lithium Battery Materials and 100,000 Tons of Lithium Battery Recycling." The Board of Directors had authorized the company's management to conduct the specific preliminary preparations for this project. As of now, the project has only undergone preliminary feasibility studies and processed some filings and environmental impact assessments, with no actual construction investment made.

The original plan was to build facilities in Yichang, Hubei, to produce materials such as electrolytes and lithium hexafluorophosphate. However, based on a comprehensive assessment of the company's capacity layout and raw material supply chain, other factory areas within the group offer stronger comparative advantages in terms of cost. After careful consideration, the company has decided not to proceed with any further construction on this project.

Shoutong New Energy5GWh Energy Storage Battery Cell and 6GWh Energy Storage System Project Approved

On March 4, Jiangmen Shoutong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s production and manufacturing project for lithium iron phosphate battery cells and energy storage power systems was officially approved by the Guangdong Energy Bureau.

It is reported that the project has a total investment of 2 billion RMB and will involve the construction of production lines for lithium iron phosphate battery cells, as well as residential, commercial, and industrial energy storage systems. Production is expected to begin in December 2026. Once full capacity is reached, it will achieve an annual output of 5GWh of solid-state lithium iron phosphate battery cells (314Ah), 2GWh of residential, commercial, and industrial energy storage, and 4GWh of large-scale energy storage systems.
