published: 2026-04-16 13:50

EnergyTrend has learned that multiple key projects across the energy storage industry chain have entered an intensive construction phase recently, covering the entire industrial chain including cell manufacturing, system integration, and energy storage battery materials.

Among them, energy storage-related projects by enterprises including HiTHIUM, CATL-KSTAR, Sunway Group, Hutan New Materials, and Xiangrui Energy Storage have accelerated implementation.

HiTHIUM Base to Enter Trial Production Soon

On April 14, according to Heze Luxi New Area, workers were conducting equipment commissioning at the production workshop of Shandong HiTHIUM Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd.

The project is implemented as a full industrial chain package, including an intelligent manufacturing base for lithium iron phosphate energy storage batteries, a new materials production base, and an upstream raw materials production base. At present, the two major production plants for cells and module systems, as well as auxiliary facilities, have been completed. Equipment installation and commissioning are underway, with trial production scheduled to begin in the near future.

Sunway Industrial Energy Storage Battery Project Steadily Progresses

On April 14, Red Star Zhongyuan Group announced that the construction of its subsidiary Sunway Group’s industrial & energy storage batteries and power batteries project in Nigeria is proceeding smoothly and entering a concentrated sprint phase for key milestones.

The project focuses on two product lines: tubular batteries and medium-density batteries, with phased targets to complete trial production and sample delivery in April, achieve mass production in May, and launch medium-density battery trial production in June.

Main equipment for the tubular battery production line has been largely installed, with linkage debugging and parameter optimization underway in final preparation for trial production, while sample battery development is also in progress. Equipment for medium-density batteries is arriving in succession, with preliminary foundation work advancing steadily.

Located in Aba Industrial Park, the project involves a total investment of 320 million yuan, including 120 million yuan for the main project and 200 million yuan for supporting industrial chain development. It aims to build a modern intelligent battery manufacturing industrial park integrating lead ore smelting, electrolysis, R&D, plate manufacturing, battery assembly and formation, further expanding into the African market.

CATL-KSTAR Energy Storage Project Phase II Breaks Ground

On April 13, the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase II of the CATL-KSTAR Energy Storage Project (South Area) was held, marking the official start of construction.

With a planned investment of 270 million yuan, the project covers a construction area of approximately 52,000 square meters, including workshops, a comprehensive building, auxiliary function warehouses, an underground emergency pool and other supporting facilities. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. Once operational, three new core production lines will be added, enabling a leap in production capacity.

KSTAR stated that Phase II of the CATL-KSTAR Energy Storage Project (South Area) is a major project planned to meet growing market demand and enhance core competitiveness.

Chuanshan Power & Energy Storage Lithium Battery Project Progress Updated

On April 11, according to Chuanshan Media, construction of the Chuanshan District power and energy storage lithium battery project is fully advancing workshop structural work.

Li Can, on-site representative of the project construction unit, noted: "The project is progressing smoothly. The steel structure of one workshop has been completed, pile foundation work is underway for a second workshop, the staff quarters are 25% finished, and the comprehensive building is 55% completed. All milestones are advancing as scheduled." The project is planned to go into production in June 2027.

Once fully operational, the power and energy storage lithium battery project is expected to achieve an annual output value of 7 billion yuan, further consolidating the regional lithium new energy industry foundation.

Hutan New Materials Energy Storage Battery Materials Project Breaks Ground

On April 10, a symposium for the energy storage battery industry cluster in Bayan Obo Mining Area invested by Huaqing Holding Group and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hutan 100,000-tonne energy storage battery materials project were held.

With a planned annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes, the project relies on advanced proprietary preparation technologies developed by Hutan New Materials to enable large-scale, intelligent production of hard carbon materials with internationally leading performance.

During the strategic cooperation signing, Hutan New Materials signed strategic cooperation agreements with multiple industry-leading enterprises including Shanxi Guoneng Zhongdian Environmental Protection Materials, Huaqing Yunlian, Nayuan New Material Technology, Hubei Shuanghuan Technology, and Jifeng New Energy Ships.

Xiangrui Energy Storage Carbon-Based Battery Materials Project Progress Updated

According to Yangquan Daily, construction of workshop facilities has begun for the Phase II project of the 40,000-tonne annual output carbon-based battery anode material project undertaken by Shanxi Xiangrui Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd.

The project includes a carbonization production line for 40,000 tonnes of carbon-based battery anode materials per year, as well as grinding and coating production lines. It is being developed in two phases: Phase I was completed and put into production in 2025, and Phase II was launched at the beginning of this year. Civil engineering and workshop construction are currently underway.

Shanxi Xiangrui Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. aims to complete construction and launch trial production by the end of this year.
