Orders and project collaborations in the global energy storage market continue to gather momentum. Companies including Hyperstrong, SK On, BYD Battery, and Zhiguang Electric have recently secured a series of energy storage projects and battery cell orders. Spanning key industry segments such as energy storage system (ESS) integration, battery cell supply, and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), the combined capacity of these deals exceeds 10 GWh.
Hyperstrong Secures 1.6 GWh Energy Storage Project Order in Germany
On August 31, construction officially broke ground on the GigaBattery Boxberg 400 large-scale energy storage project in Saxony, Germany. Hyperstrong will provide end-to-end delivery services for the project, including energy storage system supply, equipment integration, and power station construction.
With a capacity of 400 MW / 1,600 MWh, the project is located at the former Unit 2 site of the Boxberg Power Station in Germany. It will feature Hyperstrong’s HyperBlock III liquid-cooled energy storage system. Once operational, the facility will enhance grid flexibility and support the integration of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power.
SK On Lands 9 GWh Energy Storage Battery Order in the U.S.
On August 31, SK On announced that it had signed a battery cell supply agreement for energy storage systems with NeoVolta Power, a U.S.-based ESS company.
Under the agreement, SK On will supply a total of 9 GWh of LFP pouch cells to NeoVolta Power between 2027 and 2031. The products will be manufactured at SK On’s facility in Georgia, USA.
In addition, the two parties plan to sign an outsourcing agreement for an additional 9 GWh of LFP cells within the year and procure finished battery packs produced by NeoVolta Power, which is expected to expand the total scale of collaboration to 18 GWh.
BYD Battery Signs New Energy Partnership Agreement with Ulaanbaatar
Recently, BYD Battery signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic cooperation with Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The two parties will collaborate in green transportation, new energy infrastructure, and smart energy storage.
Under the MoU, both sides will prioritize the large-scale deployment of new energy vehicles, the construction of fast-charging networks for urban green stations, battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, and the "Sky Shuttle" smart public transit project. In the energy storage sector, the partners aim to optimize the city's energy structure and improve energy efficiency and power grid reliability through the implementation of BESS projects.
Zhiguang Electric Wins 260 Million Yuan Energy Storage EPC Contract
On August 31, Zhiguang Electric announced that its indirect majority-owned subsidiary, Guangzhou Huayue Power Engineering Design Co., Ltd., recently signed an EPC general contract with Guangzhou Conghua Yiya Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. for the "Guangzhou Conghua 150 MW / 300 MWh New Independent Energy Storage Project," with a total contract value of 259.5 million yuan (RMB).
Under the terms of the contract, Huayue Power will serve as the EPC general contractor. Zhiguang Electric stated that the contract involves its core business activities and, upon successful execution, is expected to positively impact the company's financial performance for the current year and subsequent fiscal periods.
