Since September, a surge of projects across the energy storage and lithium battery supply chains has materialized. Spanning all-solid-state batteries, energy storage cells, energy storage systems, cathode materials, and separators, several initiatives have now entered the construction, production, or mass production phases.
Weiheng Intelligent’s RMB 3 Billion Energy Storage System Project Lands in Yibin
On September 3, Weiheng Intelligent officially signed an investment agreement with Xuzhou District, Yibin City, securing the placement of a 14 GWh smart energy storage system production base with a total investment of approximately RMB 3 billion.
The project is planned in two phases. Phase I is expected to go into operation in 2027. Once fully operational, the site will achieve an annual capacity of 14 GWh in commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems, primarily manufacturing liquid-cooled storage cabinets and integrated solar-storage-charging systems.
Yuanhe Energy Breaks Ground on Jining High-Tech Zone Factory Project
On September 3, Yuanhe Energy officially broke ground on its factory project in the Jining High-tech Zone. The project will construct an R&D center, a PACK production line, and a final assembly line, alongside supporting infrastructure including rooftop photovoltaics, a park-level energy storage power station, charging stations, and a smart operations center.
By integrating solar power, energy storage, and energy management facilities, the project aims to build a "source-grid-load-storage" integrated energy ecosystem, establishing a flagship zero-carbon industrial park.
MGL Plans Investment in 30,000-Ton Cathode Material Project
On September 3, MGL announced that its application for a private placement of shares had received approval and registration from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). The company intends to raise up to RMB 866 million, allocating RMB 736 million to construct Phase I of a 30,000-ton/year lithium-ion battery cathode material project and RMB 130 million to supplement working capital.
Phase I plans to build two cathode material production lines, adding 15,000 tons of annual capacity—comprising 10,000 tons/year of NCA materials and 5,000 tons/year of high-voltage lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) materials. The project has an overall planned annual capacity of 30,000 tons, with Phase I contributing an initial 15,000 tons upon completion.
FSPG Hi-Tech to Invest RMB 7.158 Billion in Two Major Separator Projects
On September 3, FSPG Hi-Tech announced plans to invest approximately RMB 7.158 billion through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hebei Jinli New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., to construct two green high-end separator projects in Shaoguan, Guangdong, and Wu'an, Hebei. Concurrently, the company intends to raise up to RMB 4 billion via a private placement to fund project construction and supplement working capital.
Among them, the Shaoguan base will build a 4 billion m²/year green high-end wet-process separator project with a total investment of roughly RMB 3.347 billion, featuring 8 wet-process base film production lines. The Wu'an base will construct a 4 billion m²/year green high-end coated separator project with a total investment of around RMB 3.811 billion, comprising 8 wet-process base film lines and 44 coating machines.
Upon completion, the two projects will add a combined annual separator capacity of 8 billion square meters, further expanding the company's manufacturing footprint in EV and energy storage battery separators.
Huayi Qingchuang & Puhua New Materials Launch All-Solid-State Cell Project
On September 1, Huayi Qingchuang and Puhua New Materials unveiled silicon-carbon anode and all-solid-state cell products while officially launching their all-solid-state cell project.
The newly introduced "Qichen" series all-solid-state battery utilizes a lithium sulfide cathode, a silicon-carbon anode, and solid-solid interface engineering technology, achieving an energy density of over 400 Wh/kg.
Additionally, several strategic partnerships were established at the event. First, Huayi Qingchuang signed strategic cooperation agreements for porous carbon materials with Lanxi Zhide New Energy and Luoyang Lianchuang Lithium Energy, reached a deep partnership in silicon-carbon anodes with Gotion High-Tech, and entered into multi-dimensional strategic collaborations with Shenzhen Qingyan Electronics and Zhejiang Fengze New Materials. Second, Guangzhou Youngy Energy, the Sichuan New Energy Vehicle Innovation Center, and Huayi Qingchuang jointly launched the all-solid-state cell project.
Yinpai Battery Mass-Produces 587Ah Energy Storage Cell
Recently, Yinpai Battery's "Dafang Wuyu" series 587Ah energy storage cell officially rolled off the line into mass production. First showcased in March this year, its mass production marks Yinpai Battery's transition from product R&D to large-scale manufacturing.
According to company reports, the 587Ah cell comes in two variants: the Qiankun hybrid solid-liquid energy storage cell and the Haohan liquid energy storage cell. The Qiankun version targets high-safety energy storage applications, while the Haohan version caters primarily to large-scale scenarios such as renewable energy megabases and grid-side peak shaving.
Regarding capacity, Yinpai Battery has completed and stably operated a 6.5 GWh dedicated production line for large energy storage cells. Currently, the company has 18 GWh of built capacity, with a total planned capacity exceeding 60 GWh spanning both power and energy storage battery sectors.
ProLogium Technology Mass-Produces Third-Generation All-Solid-State Battery
On September 2, ProLogium Technology announced that its third-generation Gen 3.5 lithium ceramic battery has entered mass production at its gigafactory in Taiwan, signaling the transition of its all-solid-state battery technology from R&D and pilot testing to commercial scale.
ProLogium noted that its third-generation gigawatt-scale platform became operational in 2024. The mass production of Gen 3.5 products will further accelerate the commercial adoption of all-solid-state batteries.
To date, ProLogium has shipped over 2.4 million cells and continues to advance R&D on its next-generation Gen 4 battery. The company stated that Gen 4 will feature an all-inorganic superfluid electrolyte system while retaining the current Logithium™ cell architecture and manufacturing processes. Adapting existing gigafactory lines will require modifications to only about 10% of equipment, targeting applications in AI data centers, electric vehicles, marine transportation, and aerospace.
