ar, an international player in the field of design, production and distribution of solar panels, has produced and delivered 378 custom made BIPV-modules for ‘Ampliación del Corte Inglés Castellana, Edificio Comercial’. This new iconic building forms a prominent eye catcher in Madrid’s skyline. Spain's No 1 department store group "El Corte Inglés” initiated the construction of the new tower, adjacent to one of its biggest shopping centres.

The 103.7 metre high landmark will open in 2011, hosting amongst others a 7-floor shopping centre and 11 floors for offices. Its many years of experience with both glass and PV products made Scheuten Solar the right partner to come up with a solution for this prestigious project. 378 solar shading panels have been integrated into the façade of the Windsor II, contributing to high energy efficiency and enhancing the modern and innovative image of the building. The monocrystalline solar cells inside the glass-glass panels generate a maximum power of 60 kWp and simultaneously save energy required for cooling by keeping direct sunlight out.

Scheuten Solar has engineered, produced and delivered the 378 custom made BIPV modules in close cooperation with the façade builder in Spain. The panels were first mounted into a metal frame, in order to ensure an aesthetically pleasing integration into the façade and to hide the electric connector cables. “I am very proud that the BIPV team of Scheuten Solar has been involved in such an iconic building project in the heart of Madrid. It perfectly demonstrates how Scheuten combines glass and solar”, stated Marcel Budding, Manager Sales & Marketing BIPV.
