China Still Awaiting Revised New Energy Vehicle Policies

published: 2011-11-29 9:31

All sides are still awaiting the official debut of the revised policies for new energy vehicles for 2011 to 2020. According to the21st Century News Group, revisions are still being made and may take some several months before being officially presented.

The new policies were presented to the State Council in the beginning of this year. Sources recently have confirmed that the plans are already in the hands of the main office, which seems to indicate that the discussion and review process will begin soon. However, authoritative figures have said the plans still require a lot of revising, so their official announcement and implementation may still require a lot of time. Ideally, the policies may be ready by next year.

Officials were not clear as to what contents specifically required revising. However, some in the media have pointed out to technology conflicts and costs concerns over electric vehicles. With the price of electricity on the rise, costs associated with EVs look set to increase as well.
